Versions

Support status and lifecycle

MooseFS ships in two editions — Community (open source, GPLv2) and Pro (commercial) — on parallel major version streams that share one codebase. A version stream is supported while it receives bug-fix and security releases. When a stream reaches the end of its support window it is marked end-of-life (EOL) — it still runs, but no more updates are published, and we recommend upgrading to a supported stream.

The current actively-supported stream is 4.x for both editions. The new Pro 5.x stream opened in April 2026 alongside it. Older streams are listed below for reference.

MooseFS Pro

Pro edition timeline

The Pro stream gets the longest support windows and a head start on every new major version. End-of-life dates marked TBA have not yet been announced.
